Is Food Grade Xanthan Gum FDA Approved & GRAS?

Is Food Grade Xanthan Gum FDA Approved&GRAS?

Yes,food grade xanthan gum is both FDA approved and formally designated as GRAS(Generally Recognized as Safe)in the United States.

The U.S.Food and Drug Administration(FDA)lists xanthan gum in 21 CFR§172.695 as a safe direct food additive. It is legally permitted for use as a thickener, stabilizer, emulsifier, and texturizing agent in all types of food products, including baked goods, beverages, dairy analogs, sauces, confectionery, and gluten-free foods,at levels consistent with good manufacturing practices(GMP).

This GRAS affirmation means there is a broad scientific consensus that xanthan gum is safe for human consumption at normal dietary levels, and it is fully compliant with U.S.food safety regulations for both domestic manufacturing and imported food ingredients.
