Is Food Grade Xanthan Gum Vegan&Non-GMO?
In general, standard food grade xanthan gum is inherently vegan, and it can also be supplied as certified Non-GMO depending on production raw materials and certification.
Food grade xanthan gum is produced by microbial fermentation of plant-based carbohydrates such as corn starch, tapioca starch,or sugar. It contains no animal ingredients,no animal-derived enzymes or carriers, and is not tested on animals,so it fully conforms to vegan standards. Most commercial xanthan gum is labeled vegan, vegetarian, and halal/kosher compatible.
For Non-GMO status, products made with non-genetically modified carbohydrate feedstocks and produced under controlled systems can obtain official Non-GMO certification.Regular industrial-grade or uncertified food grade xanthan gum may use common GMO-derived corn sugar, but professional suppliers can provide dedicated Non-GMO batches to meet strict market requirements.
Therefore, food grade xanthan gum is vegan by nature, and can be Non-GMO when specified and certified.
